When working within a community, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church. Local church members play a key role in installing water filters, providing hygiene training, maintaining filters, and ensuring long-term success. As physical thirst is quenched, churches can share the Good News of Jesus Christ, who offers “living water” (John 4:10).
Through your support, Samaritan’s Purse is sharing the love of Jesus Christ with spiritually thirsty families.
Samaritan’s Purse brought a household water filter to Perlah’s* home giving her something her family had never had before—safe, clean drinking water. “The water filter is for the safety of our children. I felt the love of God,” she said, which opened the door for her to hear more about His Son.
After a water project was started in Katrina's community, her family now has access to safe, clean water. Four years ago, Katrina gave her life to Christ, and now helps the local church to bring filters to other families. “This filter is a way that people here will also experience the love of God,” she said.
God also opens doors to share with hurting people that Jesus invites them to joyfully “draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3).
The blessing’s that flow from a water filter can even open doors to plant a church for the very first time.
The water filter brought to Gimbaru’s home made such a difference, he decided to help our teams bring filters to more than 60 of his neighbors to share the blessings. As his community's health improved, the local government even set aside land for a church. "I have been blessed with this to bless others,” Gimbaru proclaimed.
Inside a classroom in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dorcas plays her favorite game, Nzango. This mix of dance, singing, and gymnastics takes a lot of energy—something Dorcas has because she can drink clean water. “God bless you for putting the filter here."
