Samaritan's Purse
Food Projects
Hunger steals the hope of children, families, and communities around the world. Together with partners like you, Samaritan’s Purse Canada is reaching the hungry and vulnerable to save lives, build sustainable futures, and share the hope of the Gospel.
Addressing a Critical Need
Through your generous support, our food projects actively address the critical need for safe and nutritious food for victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Our projects equip communities, families, and children with the proper education, tools, and resources to push away hunger and pull in hope.
Agriculture
Seeds, tools, and proper training ensure families can grow healthy, nutritious gardens and crops year after year. Our teams work alongside local churches to provide lasting solutions through hands-on farming training, home garden projects, and practical education about nutrition.
Learn MoreLivestock
Livestock such as cows, pigs, chickens, and goats provide a steady source of income and food for families. Through the necessary training and resources, including animal husbandry, disease treatment, and pen construction to safely house animals, families can rise out of poverty.
Learn MoreFeeding Programs
We provide nutritious meals at schools, education on nutrition, and teach basic gardening and animal husbandry skills to students. Empowering children today protects their health, enables them to attend school, secure bright futures, and bring these lessons home to their families.
Learn MoreEmergency Food
After a disaster, food and essential supplies can mean the difference between life and death. We provide emergency food kits that typically include staples such as rice, beans, soy meal, corn, salt, and cooking oil, so families can cook and prepare life-saving meals.
Learn MoreSince 1970, gifts like yours have provided the tools, resources, and knowledge to grow safe, nutritious food.

When working within a community, Samaritan’s Purse incorporates Biblical teachings to share about God as the greatest farmer and good shepherd. As families and communities are given the tools and resources to thrive, Gospel seeds are sown, and God’s love shines through every nutritious meal. Our teams provide follow-up support and can continue to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, who is “the bread of life” (John 6:35).
Through your support, Samaritan’s Purse is sharing the love of Jesus Christ, the “living bread” (John 6:51) with spiritually hungry families.
God enabled Samaritan’s Purse
to start an agricultural project in Jamsranjar’s community in Mongolia. Now, Jamsranjar can store up a half-ton of homegrown produce. Best of all, after hearing the Gospel, Jamsranjar also gave his life to Jesus Christ.
Praise God!
Samaritan’s Purse cow-raising project has given Duong* the means to pay for his daughter to attend university. The calves that Duong* raises and sells will help buy food and pay off Hoa’s tuition. He’s working hard to break the cycles of hunger and poverty in his daughter's life.
When families have the tools and resources to thrive physically and spiritually, it breaks cycles of poverty.
God also opens doors to share with hurting people that they are seen and loved, which plants a Gospel seed.
For 11-year-old Avani*, the gift of a nutritious meal is a powerful expression of God’s love for her. “I was so happy when I found out I would get a lunch!” she said with a smile. “It feels good to know I am loved.”
For Vitase, the battle for food and other basic needs felt never-ending, until Samaritan’s Purse partnered with the local church to provide weekly, nutritious meals. Vitase and her son also heard the Gospel, and both gave their lives to Christ. “I’m grateful to be walking this life with Jesus,” said Vitase.
