A Samaritan's Purse project in Nepal that prevents child trafficking and sexual abuse used gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God's love resulting in the child leading her parents to Christ.
Recently we witnessed Isaiah 11:6 play out before our eyes in a unique, practical way: “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.“
Let me tell you the story.
An Operation Christmas Child shoebox introduced eight-year-old Ashika to a local church. Ashika comes from a remote area in Nepal that is extremely vulnerable to human trafficking. She never knew about God and His love. But because of receiving the gift-filled shoebox, she found opportunity in the church to sing, dance, and listen to Bible stories-all of which she enjoys very much. She became quite active in the church and grew in her faith.
A few months later, having witnessed Ashika’s positive changes including better obedience and improvement in her studies, her parents accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior too. It was Ashika who shared the love of God with her parents, and at present, the whole family is coming to church.
The pastor of the church remarked, “A child has ministered to her entire family, and seeing this I have now realized the importance of the children and their ministry. I have now started children’s ministry in my church.”
“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them“ (Isaiah 11:6, NIV).
