If your answer is a resounding YES, we want to hear from you! Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is seeking a highly organized individual to join our Finance team as a Finance Assistant.
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As the Finance Assistant, you play a key role in supporting the finance team through the effective execution and smooth administration of accounting processes. This position is responsible for data entry related to accounts payable, credit card statement reconciliations and a variety of financial information received from support and ministry departments. As an integral member of the Finance Team, this individual is expected to perform in a professional manner and deliver high quality outcomes and will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time one-year contract position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Responsibilities
- Accurately enters key financial information related to accounts payable, expense reports, and other accounting functions, while maintaining organized and up-to-date accounting records through filing and data management
- Assists with the reconciliation of credit card statements, proactively following up on discrepancies to ensure complete and timely reporting
- Reviews Purchase Orders to ensure they are appropriately approved, complete, accurately coded, and compliant with policy
- Provides administrative support to the Finance team, contributing to the effective administration of overall accounting processes
Qualifications
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- 1- 2 years of experience in the financial field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge in Excel
- Highly detail-oriented, accurate, well-organized, efficient, and responsible
- Able to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Knowledgeable in relevant aspects related to Canada Revenue Agency, Christian charitable standards
- Experience with multiple currencies preferred
