Samaritan’s Purse program helps Nicaraguans learn job skills and hear about Jesus Christ.
Life as a disabled woman in Nicaragua is very hard for Guadalupe. But Samaritan’s Purse—and generous Canadians like you—are making it easier.
Guadalupe uses a wheelchair and spends her days taking care of two grandchildren. She’s also developed a small business thanks to a Samaritan’s Purse program that’s helping almost 300 people in three Nicaraguan communities.
The program provides skills training, start-up financing, and follow-up to ensure Guadalupe and the other participants are making the most of their opportunities.
As Nicaragua struggles economically, many husbands must travel to other countries to find work—and they often don’t return. So this initiative, which includes domestic abuse awareness workshops, is a vital tool for keeping families together.
These families also learn about the love of Jesus Christ through our church partners, who are offering discipleship classes for participants. We praise God for these opportunities to tell people “the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:17, ESV).
Guadalupe, who is participating in the church discipleship classes, learned sewing skills through our program. Those skills have enabled her to start repairing clothes for people in her village. Charging an average of four Canadian dollars per job, she can sometimes complete up to 15 jobs per day.
Many more Nicaraguans need skills training and Bible-based discipleship. You can provide that by linking arms with Samaritan’s Purse through your prayers and donations. Please join us.
