A second Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Unit has gone to help British Columbia families amid one of the worst wildfire seasons on record.
With several support vehicles, this specialized tractor trailer drove to the Shuswap-Scotch Creek area, where more than 10,000 residents were evacuated, and nearly 180 homes were damaged or destroyed.
The convoy carries specialized tools to equip volunteer teams to assist residents by removing debris and sifting through the ashes of their homes for treasured possessions.

“The loss from forest fires across British Columbia has been staggering,” said Keith Waara, Samaritan’s Purse’s acting director of Canadian disaster relief. “The needs in the Shuswap region are immense, and we will do all we can to help residents start their long road to recovery.”
Another Disaster Relief Unit and Samaritan’s Purse team is working with local churches to help homeowners in West Kelowna, British Columbia, where a wildfire burned over 100 homes.
