Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is seeking a talented and motivated Web Designer to join our dynamic Communications & Creative Services (C&CS) Team!
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As our Web Designer, you will play a vital role in bringing our mission to life online. You will collaborate with the Digital Communications team to develop compelling web content, maintain and enhance our existing web presence, and contribute to a variety of digital media projects. This is a wonderful opportunity to use your creativity to connect with supporters and showcase the impactful work of Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate closely with our Communications & Creative Services (C&CS) and IT teams to develop beautiful and effective digital materials that support our marketing goals.
- Design and update content for our websites and landing pages, ensuring a positive and user-friendly experience for visitors.
- Ensure our web design aligns seamlessly with all our marketing materials—from print to social media—and collaborate with our International Headquarters (IHQ) Communications team to maintain a consistent brand message across all platforms.
- Participate in our web team to identify ways to improve our website, making it even more effective in reaching and engaging our audience.
- Work within established web development standards and technologies as set by our IT department.
- Be an active member of our cross-departmental web team, helping to determine priorities and measure the success of our online initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith.
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a design-related discipline, and a minimum of 7 years of interactive digital/web design experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WordPress.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop).
- Comprehensive knowledge of typography, design, and basic graphic illustration techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of coding languages, including HTML/CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of progressive enhancement techniques, including animation and effects using CSS or JavaScript, media queries, and responsive design.
- Experience implementing search engine optimization techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, work prioritization, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual in French (writing and verbal) is considered an asset.
