Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a dedicated Senior Web Designer to join our esteemed Communications and Creative Services (C&CS) Team!
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As the Senior Web Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with talented individuals to craft visually stunning digital experiences that leave a lasting impact. From conceptualizing innovative ideas to maintaining our current web pages, your role will be crucial in shaping the online identity of SPC. You’ll have the opportunity to tap into your creativity and deliver solutions that align with our ministry objectives. Your designs will not only reflect the values of Samaritan’s Purse Canada but also enhance our brand image across various digital platforms. As an integral member of the C&CS Team, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office, with a hybrid work-from-home arrangement available. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Works together with our talented C&CS team, bringing creative strategies to life that not only meet our marketing goals but also are compatible with technical requirements
- Contributes to our multidisciplinary web team, where your insights will help shape our objectives, set our priorities, and measure our successes
- Dives into enhancing our website’s user experience, identifying and seizing opportunities to elevate our digital presence in line with our mission
- Gets hands-on with updating and refining the content on our external websites and landing pages, ensuring our message is always up to date and compelling
- Uses your creativity, while staying in line with existing brand expectations to design exceptional digital media across all of SPC’s platforms, using your expertise in design principles, videography, typography, and graphic illustration
- Collaborates closely with IHQ Communications to synchronize web content, making sure our brand and message resonate consistently across all our organizational websites
- Guarantees that our web design is in perfect harmony with our marketing materials, from print and social media to email marketing and advertising, maintaining a cohesive look and feel across all channels
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- Bachelor’s degree or a college diploma in a design-related discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ interactive digital/web design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Efficient and proactive self-starter who can work within tight deadlines and adapt to rapid changes in a fast-paced environment
- Superior attention to detail, work prioritization, and time management abilities
- Skilled in web standards, and web optimization
- Expertise in WordPress and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, are essential for this role
- A strong foundation in typography, design, and basic graphic illustration techniques is a must
- Demonstrable skills in coding languages, specifically HTML/CSS and JavaScript/JQuery, are required
- Comprehensive knowledge of advanced web design tactics, such as CSS or JavaScript animations, media queries, and responsive design principles, is crucial
- Experience implementing search engine optimization techniques
- Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence
