THE WORLD NEEDS MORE GOOD SAMARITANS
This is how we as modern-day Good Samaritans can bring hope to a world crying out for help
DEAR FRIEND,
After describing how the Good Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus instructed His listeners, “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37, NKJV). For decades, Samaritan’s Purse has worked to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering.
The following pages highlight how we are helping those in desperate need in over 100 countries around the world. You can also learn how to become involved in our ministry as we help the hurting in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and share the hope of the Gospel. May God bless you.

GOOD SAMARITAN'S
When Disasters ravage the countries around the world, our response teams hit the ground—often within hours—with food, medicine, clean water, and other life-saving relief. In some of the hardest-hit places, we stay for long periods to help communities recover.
Generous donations from people like you help fight hunger, poverty, and disease now and for years to come, while opening doors for our staff and local believers to proclaim the message of eternal redemption. Please help us stand ready to care for disaster victims in Jesus’ Name.
SERVING in the Name of Jesus Christ
“We are so thankful for the volunteers and Samaritan’s Purse. When you’re facing such a bleak task, it’s so good to have people around you. They have motivated and inspired us.” – Betty Porter, Ontario flood victim
Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, and ice storms can bring Canadian communities to their knees. When disaster hits, Samaritan’s Purse is ready to respond immediately and effectively in cooperation with local churches and volunteers. Funded by Canadians, our teams of trained volunteers help families recover while sharing God’s love through action.
“I felt alone. I felt lost. That is where Jesus met me. He didn’t leave me there. He showed me that He loved and cared for me through a simple gift—through a shoebox.”
— Elizabeth, shoebox gift recipient
Since 1993, more than 209 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The shoeboxes have opened doors for us to share the Gospel with the children and their families, and to work with local leaders to meet a variety of community needs including safe water, food production, and vocational training.
begins with a shoebox gift and ends by transforming communities
Over 800,000 people die each year from diseases caused by unclean water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene habits.
Our projects focus on providing and purifying water by installing filters, digging wells, and supplying emergency water. We also work to prevent disease through constructing latrines and providing important training in health and hygiene. Along the way, we introduce men, women, and children to the Living Water of Jesus Christ. Many thousands of families still need clean water. Will you help them?
Thanks to generous Canadians, we have built and installed enough BioSand Water Filters to provide more than a million people with long-term, clean drinking water. This Canadian invention is transforming lives as it reduces sickness and enables families to spend less on medicine and bottled water, and more on food and other necessities.
Based on the same technology, we’ve also developed the large-scale Samaritan Filter to provide clean water in schools, medical clinics, and other institutions in developing nations.
Families around the globe live with the dark reality of starvation and sickness. Samaritan’s Purse works to ensure access to critical medical care, to equip people to feed themselves, and to protect women and children from exploitation and abuse. The need is great and so are the opportunities to share the Good News. Please join us in this vital work.
Samaritan’s Purse establishes and supports hunger relief programs worldwide, thanks to the support of our donors. Your gifts also give hope to struggling farmers and fishermen by providing the tools and animals they need to feed their families. And with your help, we are teaching people how to plant productive gardens, create natural fertilizer, build effective animal pens, and more. As we do this work, God is opening doors for us to tell people about Jesus Christ, “the bread of life” (John 6:35, NIV).
In many countries, health care is available only to a privileged few. For most people, even common illnesses can lead to death. World Medical Mission and our other medical ministries bring the healing power of the Great Physician to the suffering.
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
“Go and do likewise.”
