Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the ways Samaritan’s Purse Canada has had open doors to share the gospel is through the shoe box gift program of Operation Christmas Child.
The Regional Manager will be responsible for recruiting, developing and encouraging significant teams of volunteers to grow participation in and support for the OCC program for the purpose of increasing the Gospel opportunities for children around the world. The individual will also connect and work with Christian churches and schools and other like-minded communities, representing OCC and SPC in the region. As an integral member of the OCC Team, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time role in a home-based office in Regina, SK; Saskatoon, SK; Winnipeg, MB; or Calgary, AB. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Recruits, selects, trains, and develops individual volunteers to build awareness of and participation in Operation Christmas Child, while identifying leader volunteers and helping them to do the same for their team members
- Guides leader volunteers in strategies resulting in team development, growth in number of shoeboxes, prayer support, media support, promotion and financial support of OCC
- Schedules and conducts volunteer and promotional visits within the region, maximizing the potential for building volunteer teams and generating shoebox gifts, and prayer support
- Promotes OCC and SPC directly to identified churches, Christian schools, and other organizations or groups whose values and beliefs align with OCC and SPC
- Establishes a yearly ministry plan for the region, defining goals and implementing strategies for volunteer growth and development as well as shoebox growth
- Tracks and reports goals and performance of volunteer Area Teams and regularly reviews teams’ progress and plans with leader volunteers
- Identifies strategic areas for networking and recruiting for volunteer growth
- Participates in all national conference calls, regular meetings with other team members and conferences as assigned
- Supports events held by volunteers in support of OCC within the region
- Delivers presentations clearly to engage audiences and build enthusiasm around OCC initiatives
- Maintains a regional office at home, with ongoing weekly reporting back to the Calgary office
- Communicates with volunteers regularly using e-mails, telephone/video meetings, Area Team meetings, conferences, personal meetings, and training meetings
- Serves as the regional media spokesperson for OCC, and maintains media contacts along with the SPC Communications team
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- Post secondary education, with a relevant degree/diploma
- Administrative and/or office experience an asset
- Public speaking or presentation experience an asset
- Volunteer management skills with training experience; sales, marketing and/or public relations experience
- Demonstrated abilities in shepherding and spiritual mentorship
- Highly relational and has the ability to work independently with little supervision
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Maintains a professional, polished appearance and demeanor when representing the organization
- Ability to stay organized and manage day-to-day administrative responsibilities
- Ability to recruit, select, train, motivate and oversee large volunteer area teams for OCC
- Required to travel within the assigned region for 45-60 days / year
- Valid driver’s license for travel across the region
