As the Medical Materials, Requirements and Planning (MRP) Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical readiness, configuration, and availability of critical medical consumables and durable equipment supporting our Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) and emergency response operations. This role functions as a vital link within our Global Medical Readiness structure, collaborating closely with our International Headquarters (IHQ) team. You will serve as the Canadian technical counterpart, ensuring equipment is mission-ready, regulatory compliant, and deployed efficiently to those most in need. As an integral member of the Programs & Projects Department, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in the daily prayer ministry.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leads EFH consumables and durable equipment readiness for the EFHs based in Canada, ensuring equipment is mission-ready, deployable, and maintained to global standards.
- Ensures technical configuration and usability of SPC EFH modules, including layout, workflow integration, equipment compatibility, and operational fit-for-purpose.
- Coordinates with Biomed, IT, WASH, and technical teams to ensure all supporting systems for equipment managed at SPC are deployment ready.
- Assists in regulatory alignment for non-pharmaceutical medical devices, including Medical Device Established License (MDEL) compliance and documentation for regulatory review.
- Supports global emergency responses as required, including SPC-based deployments and occasional Incident Management Team (IMT) support.
- Oversees SPC medical inventory system utilization for consumables and durable tracking, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and readiness status reporting.
- Responsible for ordering, staging, packing and maintenance of medical consumables.
- Leads module build-out, staging, and readiness planning, including pre-deployment checks, packing logic, and configuration verification.
- Contributes to global readiness dashboards and reports on SPC EFH readiness, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Ensures clear handoff from readiness to operations at time of deployment.
- Leads post-deployment reset activities, including reconciliation, replenishment planning, and restoration of EFH system readiness.
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years related work experience in Operations or Supply Chain Management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of medical operations and logistics.
- Proven ability to maintain accurate records and analyze data with a high degree of precision and responsibility.
- Understanding of medical consumables and equipment needed for clinical care in the field.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid passport and ability to travel to USA.
- Forklift License is an asset.
