Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Facility Manager to join our Operations team at Shady Creek Ranch.

The Facility Manager – Ranch is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and care of the Shady Creek Ranch property, including buildings, grounds, and equipment across the 320-acre site. Shady Creek Ranch serves as a ministry property owned by SPC and is used for conferences, retreats, leadership gatherings, and training. This role ensures that all facilities are maintained according to organizational standards of excellence while supporting the mission and ministry of Samaritan’s Purse Canada. The position works closely with the Director of Operations and supports ministry activities through participation in daily prayer and staff devotions.
The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position primarily based at Shady Creek Ranch (33 km north of Cochrane), with regular travel to the Calgary Office a few days each week. Housing is provided with the successful candidate residing in a home located on the Shady Creek Ranch property. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversees the overall maintenance, janitorial services, and operations of multiple buildings and structures across the ranch property.
- Ensures regular upkeep of lawns, gardens, fencing, roadways, and outdoor spaces, including seasonal cleanup, lawn care, trimming, and snow removal.
- Develops, implements, and monitors comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Plans for all buildings, vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations; conducts regular inspections, identifies risks, and implements corrective actions.
- Participates in budget planning for maintenance activities, procurement of materials, and use of contractors or seasonal labor; monitors expenditures to ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers; participates in contract negotiation as required.
- Supervises maintenance contractors, staff, and volunteers on location, providing guidance, training, and oversight to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Prepares and submits regular reports regarding facility condition, maintenance schedules, budget status, and operational issues.
- Provides support to the Operations Team at the Calgary Ministry Centre as directed by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience, and/or
- 5 years of experience managing property or facilities.
- Proven experience as a Facility Manager or in a similar role, preferably in an agricultural or rural setting.
- Strong working knowledge of property maintenance, landscaping, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience with minor repairs including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, small engine, and general maintenance.
- Experience operating and maintaining groundskeeping and snow removal equipment.
- Familiarity with applicable safety regulations and facility management standards.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
