Samaritan’s Purse Canadian Disaster Relief stands ready to respond to Manitoba & Saskatchewan wildfires.
Manitoba is grappling with one of its most severe wildfire seasons on record. Over 200,000 hectares of land have burned—triple the province’s annual average. More than 17,000 residents, including those from Flin Flon and several First Nations communities, have been evacuated as major fires remain uncontained. Both Manitoba and neighboring Saskatchewan have now declared states of emergency.
Samaritan’s Purse Canada is ready to respond when called upon. We are currently in contact with provincial authorities in Manitoba and are poised to deploy people and resources upon request. One way we can do this is by staffing and resourcing evacuation centers, which have the capacity to serve hundreds of wildfire evacuees.
Once evacuated areas are safe to return to, Samaritan’s Purse Canada is also prepared to provide possession recovery, debris removal, spiritual/emotional care, and long-term recovery programming to impacted residents.
Please join us in praying for wildfire evacuees, as well as for first responders and government officials as they combat these devastating fires.
