‘Go and do likewise’
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, “Go and do likewise.”
As you partner with Samaritan’s Purse to work in crisis areas worldwide, people often ask, “Why did you come?” The answer is always the same: “We have come to help you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always. We thank God for the opportunities He gives to share the hope of the Gospel wherever we go.
Your gift to “Where Most Needed” provides the vital resources— including personnel, materials, supporting services, and more—to fulfill this mission of relief and evangelism.
Canadian Disaster Relief
When natural disasters devastate Canadian families, you can provide hope and help in Jesus’ Name. Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes emergency equipment and hundreds of volunteers to provide shelter, clean-up, and item recovery in the aftermath of floods, fires, and storms. Your gifts equip these relief teams to respond at a moment’s notice and continue to support families on the long road to recovery.
On June 2, the Wolf Fire hit Denare Beach, Saskatchewan, with a speed and intensity that left many in shock. Over 200 homes were destroyed in the village of just 700 people. Our team arrived in the aftermath with a Disaster Relief Unit tractor-trailer and all the tools needed to help residents sift through the remains of their properties. For Brooke, a local resident, the recovery of possessions that survived the fire helped provide a sense of closure.
“Thank you so much for what you are doing. It helps because people don’t even know that there were things they could have found, things that can make them feel more at home again.”

International Disaster Relief
You can meet critical needs and share the hope of Christ in times of crisis. For over 50 years, Samaritan’s Purse has worked to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. Partners like you make it possible to bring vital food, water, shelter, medicine, and our trained Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to disaster zones worldwide. Our DART members are at work in the midst of every devastation and tragedy, serving as the hands and feet of Jesus when lives are on the line. In 2025, Samaritan’s Purse relief teams have deployed to crises in Sundan, Myanmar, Gaza, and Jamaica.
On October 28, Hurricane Melissa, a catastrophic Category 5 storm, made landfall on Jamaica—the most powerful storm on record to hit the country. Extreme storm surges, high winds, and torrential rain caused flash flooding and landslides that left behind mass destruction. Thousands of people remain in shelters, and hundreds of thousands remain without power. Samaritan’s Purse is providing survivors with water, shelter, hygiene items, solar lights, and other supplies.
“Tonight, someone will sleep without water soaking them immediately when it rains. There will be a family who will get those hygiene kits that can take a proper bath. Today, hope will be brought to people [because they know] there are people who care, that there is still a God who provides,” Pastor Erroll Bennett said.

Food, Water, and Protection
Around the world, millions of people are suffering from chronic hunger, drinking unclean water, or living at risk of exploitation or human trafficking. God can work through your prayers and gifts to change those realities for brighter, more hopeful futures.
By providing livestock and agriculture training, you help provide a stable source of ongoing food and income for hungry families. When you give clean water for drinking, cooking, and hand-washing, you ensure good health for families and help children stay in school. And by offering boys and girls access to education and safe places, you make it possible for them to learn, grow, and thrive. Each door that you help open towards a better tomorrow also help points lives towards Jesus Christ.
A bountiful garden grows outside Michelle’s school in Kenya. Handmade signs with labels like “beetroot” and “sweet potato” identify a variety of plants.
Michelle is 13 years old and in Grade 7. She dreams of working in agriculture when she grows up. “I have learned a lot in this garden, and I have seen the benefits,” she said. She explains how the garden enriches meals with protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates. Beyond studying the nutritional science behind gardening, Michelle is also learning the Biblical values of generosity and diligence.
“We can sell vegetables to others, we can eat, and we can also provide for those who do not have vegetables,” she said. One of her classmates chimes in: “I have prepared an organic garden at home, and I have taught my parents. They are very happy and proud of me.”
At Michelle’s school, our local partner provided fencing, tools, seeds, and gardening training through prayer and support like yours. In the same region, Hivene, a mother of four, received support to run a small chicken farm. She uses the training and supplies to grow azolla plants and black soldier fly larvae—excellent, natural sources of feed for her flock. Hivene has become such a successful chicken farmer that we send others to learn from her. She uses the opportunity to share God’s love and Good News with her neighbors.
“I am a born-again Christian,” she said. “I’m also a teacher professionally, but you can find me on the farm.”

Operation Christmas Child
Since 1993, God has used simple shoebox gifts, prayerfully packed in Canada and other sending countries, to change lives for eternity. Operation Christmas Child equips churches in over 100 nations to share the Gospel and deliver shoebox gifts at child-friendly outreach events. Each shoebox gift demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Johan remembers the day when Pastor Sixto led the 3-2-1 countdown before the children opened their gift boxes. The room was quiet, and then all of a sudden, boys and girls were screaming with delight and holding up toys for everyone to see. His favorite item was a soccer ball, as he had to leave most of his personal belongings, including his ball, in Colombia when the family moved to Chile.
Before the outreach event, Johan had been struggling with the family’s move to a different country. Although he knew that his parents brought him and his younger brother to Chile to pursue a better life, it was still challenging. The language wasn’t the same, and sometimes his peers made fun of him. He was shy and making friends didn’t come easy. But the outreach event turned out to be a pivotal moment that set Johan’s life on a course of significant transformation. When he received his shoebox gift, he couldn’t help but wonder: Why would someone send a gift to a child they had never met?
Pastor Sixto explained to Johan that every shoebox gift was lovingly packed in Jesus’ Name by someone who wanted a boy or girl to experience the hope of the Gospel. He told Johan that the gift was a tangible expression of God’s love.
“The shoebox was totally a gift—and that was impactful. Receiving it changed my life,” Johan said. “I began to get closer to God.”
