Working with Manitoba provincial emergency officials, we are establishing an evacuation center in Winnipeg.
At the invitation of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, Samaritan’s Purse Canada is responding to the disastrous wildfires that have crippled the province in recent weeks.
Our team of relief specialists will set up an evacuation center in Winnipeg to welcome and care for those fleeing their homes. We have mobilized two of our mass care units which will be set up within hours of arrival—providing hundreds of cots, pillows, sheets, blankets, and hygiene kits. We are pre-positioning as many resources as possible in case more evacuation orders are issued in the coming days.
Thank you for your prayers as we coordinate with provincial authorities. We praise God for people like you who we can rely on to pray for and support this vital ministry.
Manitoba has been grappling with one of its most severe wildfire seasons on record. Over 500,000 hectares of land have now burned—a devastating loss that’s many times the province’s annual average.
More than 17,000 residents, including those from Flin Flon and several First Nations communities, have been evacuated. The latest report from the Manitoba Wildfire Service says 27 fires are still burning, and several of them remain out of control.
Samaritan's Purse Canada set up this mass care evacuation center in Kelowna, British Columbia, after wildfires tore through the region in 2023, leaving devastation in its wake.
Your partnership makes it possible for us to deliver rapid, compassionate relief to disaster evacuees across Canada. With two mobile units based in Calgary, Alberta and Hamilton, Ontario, we can establish mass care centers within hours, providing hundreds of cots, plus hygiene kits and privacy screens. Our trained responders ensure safe, dignified environments—easing the burden on host communities.
We also stand ready to respond immediately to wildfires in Saskatchewan if God opens that door. Please pray for us as we stay in close contact with emergency officials there as well.
Once evacuated areas are safe to return to, Samaritan’s Purse Canada is also prepared to provide possession recovery, spiritual/emotional care, and long-term recovery programming to impacted residents.
Please join us in praying for everyone affected by wildfires in Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Pray also for first responders and government personnel as they support their provinces during these disasters.

Give TodayOur teams are often first on the ground in crises with a mission to reduce suffering, save lives, and share the hope of the Gospel where it’s needed most.
We serve in over 100 countries, partnering with local churches to meet urgent needs, including food, safe water, protection, and medical care in Jesus’ Name.
Wherever we go, we thank God for the opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel. Our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always.
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, “Go and do likewise.” For over 50 years, Samaritan’s Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. Partners like you make it possible to bring critical food, water, medicine, and other assistance, including Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
As you partner with Samaritan's Purse to work in crisis areas worldwide, people often ask, “Why did you come?” The answer is always the same: “We have come to help you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always. We thank God for the opportunities He gives to share the hope of the Gospel wherever we go.
Give TodaySamaritan's Purse Canada is committed to the highest standards of financial integrity and transparency.
Samaritan's Purse Canada is audited annually by an independent public accounting firm, and our financial statement is available upon request. Occasionally we receive more contributions for a given project than can wisely be applied to that project. When this happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need as directed by our Board. Please visit our Annual Report and Financial Accountability page to learn more.

Please pray for favorable winds and for rain to fall upon the dry land. Pray for the protection of all residents and their homes, and for open doors for churches and relief teams to meet urgent needs and share the eternal hope of Jesus Christ in this difficult time.
