Give Hope in Jesus’ Name
This Giving Tuesday, you can change lives by meeting critical needs in times of crisis around the world. You can help deliver emergency food and shelter for families hurting amid war, supply medical equipment for life-saving surgeries, or establish water filtration systems in communities devastated by natural disasters—all in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Rushing Relief to Jamaica
Pastor Steve Hepburn was reeling when he arrived at our first distribution in Jamaica. Residents, he said, have faced things they’ve never faced.
“Our church people and community folks are distraught. They are in a state they’ve never been in before,” he said.
On October 28, Hurricane Melissa, a catastrophic Category 5 storm, made landfall on Jamaica—the most powerful storm on record to hit the country. Extreme storm surges, high winds, and torrential rain caused flash flooding and landslides that left behind mass destruction. Thousands of people remain in shelters, and hundreds of thousands are still without power. Samaritan’s Purse is providing survivors with water, shelter, hygiene items, solar lights, and other supplies.
Pastor Hepburn and leaders from his church were among scores of local church leaders who came to gather supplies from Samaritan’s Purse. Through the provision of 1,300 household kits, area churches are able to meet needs as families face heat, rain, and nights without electricity. Each household kit includes shelter tarp, water filters, and solar lights.
On Nov. 5, Samaritan’s Purse opened an Emergency Field Hospital to help treat hundreds of patients. Mobile medical units have also been set up to work in difficult-to-reach areas of southwest Jamaica.
Many churches in Jamaica are connected with Samaritan’s Purse through Operation Christmas Child and our response on the island after Hurricane Beryl last year.
“Samaritan’s Purse has come just in time,” Pastor Hepburn said. “You were here last year during Hurricane Beryl and you have been here many other times. You are touching lives. Pray that the hand of God will continue to rest upon our nation as we go through this.”

YEAR TO DATE DEPLOYMENT IMPACT
Myanmar
Twenty-eight Canadian DART members deployed in response to a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Southeast Asia on March 28. Samaritan’s Purse airlifted an Emergency Field Hospital from Calgary, Alberta, to the disaster zone.
In Myanmar, one of the strongest earthquakes in the country’s history shook Sanda’s* house to pieces. A support beam shielded Sanda from the worst of the collapse, but her husband died in the rubble.
Sanda’s leg was pinned for eight hours before she was rescued, and by then, her leg was deeply wounded. She needed surgery—but the local medical system was overwhelmed. Samaritan’s Purse responded immediately to the earthquake in Myanmar by sending an Emergency Field Hospital. “I thank God for each and every one of you,” she said as our staff prayed with her. Over the following days, Samaritan’s Purse medical staff cared for Sanda as she healed physically and emotionally and shared the love of Christ with her through their care.
Patients treated and 332 surgeries performed.
Liters of clean water provided.
Household kits distributed.
Sudan
Samaritan’s Purse opened an Emergency Field Hospital in Sudan on Christmas Day to treat those displaced by armed conflict. Our hospital became a refuge for expectant mothers needing maternity and pediatric care. When a famine struck the area and conflict and adverse weather conditions blocked road access, our teams airlifted life-saving food to people in need.
Beya and her family are among the many people benefiting from the work of Samaritan’s Purse. When fighting erupted around their hometown, she and her husband fled quickly with their eight children. “It was like a fire burning around us, so we had to escape,” Beya recounts. They arrived barefoot to a barren area of Kordofan surrounded by thousands of other terrified people, all suddenly forced to rely on the generosity of their host community.
Now that Beya has received relief from our airlifts, her family’s situation has improved. They have more food—one or two small meals a day is better than a pot of boiled leaves. They are truly thankful, though their lives remain a constant struggle to survive.
When 2-year-old Ahmed’s parents brought him to one of our hospitals, he weighed just 13 pounds. At first, his mom and dad had little hope for their malnourished son, but it wasn’t long before his health improved remarkably.
“We thought we might lose him, but now our son is healthy again,” his mother, Magula, said. “We are forever grateful to the Samaritan’s Purse team for their care and love. Ahmed is now a happy child.”
Babies born, including 160 cesarean section deliveries.

Gaza
Since 2023, Samaritan’s Purse has been actively providing life-saving aid to innocent civilians affected by the war in both Israel and Gaza in Jesus’ Name. Our teams are working through partners to deliver food, clean water, shelter materials, and other critical supplies to families in need within Palestinian territories while also providing medical aid, trauma kits, and emergency food to Israeli families in need. Ten Canadian DART members deployed to support ongoing relief efforts.
“Innocent families are suffering in Gaza and Israel, and many lives have been lost since the start of this conflict,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “Samaritan’s Purse is working to help innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. These food supplies are a tangible reminder that God sees them, cares for them, and has not forgotten them in their suffering. Please join me in praying for peace in the Middle East.”

International Disaster Relief
As you partner with Samaritan’s Purse to work in crisis areas worldwide, people often ask, “Why did you come?” The answer is always the same: “We have come to help you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always.
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, “Go and do likewise.”
For over 50 years, Samaritan’s Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. Partners like you also make it possible to send our Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) members worldwide.
Our DART members are at work in the midst of every devastation and tragedy, serving as the hands and feet of Jesus. These men and women are trained professionals who provide medical care, distribute relief supplies, establish temporary shelter, and coordinate emergency responses.
