Enduring Persecution

Even as Daniel’s congregation looked for ways to serve their community in Jesus’ Name, they also endured attacks because of His Name. “Living in a country where less than one percent of the population are Christians is difficult. It’s not easy,” Daniel said. “You have to be a devout Christian and you need a lot of prayers. Christians face a lot of discrimination at the social level.”

Some believers lost their lives. When several churches were targeted in a nearby region, and many Christians were killed by attackers, Pastor Daniel’s church became a refuge for their brothers and sisters in Christ. With help from Samaritan’s Purse, they met the critical needs of Christians fleeing the violence.

Sharing the Gospel

Pastor Daniel and his church also continued reaching out to their neighbors, even those who persecuted them. “We want to share God’s love in everything we do,” he said. “Loving your enemies, I think, is the big difference between Jesus and all the other religions of the world. Only Jesus speaks about loving your enemies. Only through God can we love our enemies.”

His congregation reached out to communities that endured disasters such as flooding. And they started programs to help women living in poverty and children unable to attend school. Through this work, doors opened to share God’s Word. “Today, the whole world is looking for peace. Only the Bible, the Word of God, can bring about this change,” Pastor Daniel said.

Though Pastor Daniel went to be with Jesus in 2022, his congregation and believers across West Africa and worldwide continue his legacy of preaching the Gospel, no matter the cost.

When you give this Christmas, you give strength to believers under attack and equip them to share the Gospel, no matter the cost.

Together, We Can Stand With Persecuted Christians

In many countries, Christians are robbed, imprisoned, slandered, and even beaten or killed because of their faith. We can stand alongside our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ, letting them know they are not alone. Your gift can help provide food, shelter, medical care, or other assistance to persecuted believers. Your gifts can also equip them with Biblical training and copies of God’s Word as they shine the light of Christ.
