Operation Christmas Child Regional Manager

Region: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the ways Samaritan’s Purse Canada has had open doors to share the gospel is through the shoebox gift program of Operation Christmas Child (OCC).

Are you a dynamic, self-motivated individual, looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the world around you? Samaritan’s Purse is seeking to fill a one-year maternity leave position as a Regional Manager in our Operation Christmas Child Program. The Regional Manager must be goal orientated and will be responsible for recruiting, developing and encouraging significant teams of volunteers to grow participation in and support for the OCC program for the purpose of increasing the Gospel opportunities for children around the world. The individual will also connect and work with Christian churches and schools and other like-minded communities, representing OCC and Samaritan’s Purse Canada in the region. The successful candidate will fulfill this full-time one year contract position working from a home-based office located within the Greater Toronto Area region and help Samaritan’s Purse Canada carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry and the aforementioned functions as an integral member of the OCC department. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short term/long term disability and 15 days of vacation per year.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Recruit, select, train, and develop individual volunteers to build awareness of and participation in Operation Christmas Child, while identifying leader volunteers and helping them to do the same for their team members
  • Guide leader volunteer in strategies resulting in team development, growth in the number of shoeboxes, prayer support, media support, promotion and financial support of OCC
  • Schedule and conduct volunteer and promotional visits within the region, maximizing the potential for building volunteer teams and generating shoebox gifts, and prayer support
  • Promote OCC and Samaritan’s Purse Canada directly to identified churches, Christian schools, and other organizations or groups whose values and beliefs align with OCC and Samaritan’s Purse Canada
  • Establish a yearly ministry plan for the region, defining goals and implementing strategies for volunteer growth and development as well as shoebox growth
  • Track and report goals and performance of volunteer Area Teams and regularly reviews team’s progress and plans with leader volunteers
  • Identify strategic areas for networking and recruiting for volunteer growth
  • Participate in all national conference calls, regular meetings with other team members, and conferences as assigned
  • Support events held by volunteers in support of Operation Christmas Child within the region
  • Deliver presentations clearly to engage audiences and build enthusiasm around OCC initiatives
  • Maintain a regional office at home; with ongoing weekly reporting back to the Samaritan’s Purse Canada Calgary office
  • Communicate with volunteers regularly through the use of e-mails, telephone/video meetings, Area Team meetings, conferences, personal meetings, and training meetings
  • Serve as the regional media spokesperson for OCC, maintain media contacts along with the Samaritan’s Purse Canada Communications team

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
  • Passionate about Christian ministry and sharing the Gospel
  • Self-directed and goal-oriented
  • Experience in recruiting and developing individuals, volunteers, and teams
  • Sales and marketing experience, an asset
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Able to work independently, as part of a nationally dispersed team
  • Naturally dynamic communicator who is capable of motivating and engaging those around them toward Kingdom effectiveness
  • A proven track record of product or program growth and success in the for-profit or not-for-profit sectors
  • Willing and able to fulfill evening and weekend engagements
  • Personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license for travel across the region
  • Required to travel within the assigned region for 45-60 days/year
