Airlifting shoebox gifts to Syrian refugee children

Make-shift housing, lengthy food lines, and fast-spreading disease aren’t the only factors that make up life for the millions of Syrian refugees who have fled civil war and death in recent months.

“Life has become increasingly painful, challenging, and hopeless for many,” one of our partners recently shared, who is helping Samaritan’s Purse provide emergency aid to displaced Syrians who are suffering.

That’s why Operation Christmas Child is sending a special airlift containing 65,000 shoebox gifts from Canada and the United States to encourage Syrian children and to remind them that they aren’t forgotten.

The girls and boys who will receive these gifts battle hunger daily and struggle to stay warm during the harsh winter months. They have lost almost everything, including-for some-their families, whom they were separated from as they fled for their lives.

As Samaritan’s Purse helps provide for these emergency needs, Operation Christmas Child is filling a gap that is often overlooked by giving emotional support to tens of thousands of hurting children.

Please ardently pray for these little ones.

Ask that the Lord will guide each of these shoebox gifts into the arms of the right child-whether they need a new pair of shoes, a picture and note of encouragement, or a simple toy and the gift of a happy afternoon pastime.

Pray also that the Holy Spirit will minister to these children’s hearts, so that they may be filled with joy and declare: “Lord my God, I take refuge in you” (Psalm 7:1, NIV).

Please donate $12 for every shoebox you prepare. Your donations will help cover project costs, including shipping (make one combined donation for multiple shoeboxes). Consider making an additional donation to help Samaritan's Purse go beyond the shoebox and expand assistance to children, their families, and their communities. Samaritan's Purse does not provide receipts for the value of gift items included in a shoebox.
