A raging wildfire near Cameron Lake on Vancouver Island has forced hundreds of households to evacuate. Samaritan’s Purse relief specialists have arrived in Parksville, British Columbia, to set up an evacuation center. People fleeing the fire will be welcomed to safety and provided with everything they need, including beds, blankets, pillows, and hygiene items. Your support is critical.
The out-of-control Wesley Ridge wildfire has burned roughly 400 hectares of land since July 31. Wind gusts pushed it toward more homes yesterday, expanding evacuation orders and prompting British Columbia’s Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness to invite Samaritan’s Purse to respond. The evacuation center will host 100-150 guests at first, but this number is likely to increase.
Please pray for the Vancouver Island residents displaced by this fire and for firefighting crews and provincial emergency officials. Please also ask God to help our teams care for these families and share the comfort and hope of Christ.
