He will make all things work together for His good

by Kirstin Shenks , Ambrose University College student council member

April, 2014 – As students at Ambrose University College finish the spring semester, we are also working on finishing up this year’s The Water Works Project, our fundraiser with Samaritan’s Purse to help provide safe, clean water to impoverished people.

However, The Water Works Project isn’t finished! Our student council has decided to extend the project into next year to help us complete our goal.

Looking back over recent months, I know that God has been faithful to us. Already, we’ve raised enough funds to purchase 41 BioSand Water Filters like those pictured above, which will allow 41 families to  protect themselves from life-threatening germs for years to come.

We are also partnering with a cafe beside our school which has agreed to donate 5% of all drink sales for the month of April to our project! A bake sale helped us raise funds, as well.

Overall, we feel that our Water Works Project has been a success. We experienced many difficulties, and at times it felt like our goal was impossible. Even now, carrying the project into the fall carries many unknowns. Will students want to be involved next year, too?

But in the doubts and uncertainty, I’m reminded that God is always in control and His plans are perfect. I am also reminded of His promise:

For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

God’s promises apply not only to our uncertainties with our Water Works Project, but to all aspects of our lives. As we continue to hand over our fears and uncertainties to God, He will make all things work together for His good—just like He’s doing with our Water Works Project.
