Volunteer describes her joy at being able to help flood victims

By Sandee, Samaritan’s Purse volunteer

April, 2014—I had the pleasure of working alongside some of the finest human beings ever this week in High River and Calgary, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at the Southern Alberta Restoration Project!

I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to the folks I met along the way. It has been a truly life-changing week for me in so many ways. I feel very blessed to have been involved in such a unique experience. There are so many treasured memories and people that passed my way that I don’t know where to begin!

I want to thank the homeowners who allowed us to go into their homes and invade their lives for the hours that we spent there every day. You all showed me how to face life a little differently when faced with such adversity! You definitely showed me to rise above. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will never forget you folks.

I want to thank everyone with Samaritan’s Purse for allowing me to come along and give back to my city-the city that throughout my many years has helped me so, so much! I have honestly never felt so blessed in all of my days. You really showed me what human kindness is all about. “Give and you shall receive,” one of the Samaritan’s Purse staff would say to me throughout the week. He was right on the mark!

As you continue to do your good work around the world, I will never forget any of you. I am so absolutely humbled by all of you and the goodness that you brought into my life this week.

Editor’s Note:  The Southern Alberta Restoration Project was a special ministry by  Samaritan’s Purse that helped dozens of families repair their homes after the 2013 southern Alberta floods.
