The Greatest Journey - 080622 The Greatest Journey

God uses The Greatest Journey to lead Inuit children to Christ

In the remote Northwest Territories village of Tuktoyaktuk, a Christ-following teacher wanted to explain the Good News of Jesus Christ to her students. So she contacted Samaritan’s Purse. We met with her and also with Adam Emmanuel, the only pastor in Tuktoyaktuk.

Adam was eager to have a new tool to teach the Gospel, so he partnered with us to bring The Greatest Journey (TGJ) to his church. It’s a 12-lesson discipleship and evangelism ministry that God has used to bring millions of children in the developing world to faith in His Son.

Adam taught TGJ to children, mostly Inuit, who rarely attend Sunday school. The course, which was developed to use with Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child ministry, teaches the Gospel in an easy-to-understand way.

Using basic illustrations and stories, TGJ explains who Jesus is and why it’s important to make Him Lord and Savior. As a result, 20 children committed their lives to Christ.

“It’s been very good for the children here,” said Adam. “We’re reaching out to the next generation that hasn’t been touched by the Gospel.”

The children who came to know the Lord also committed to pray and share the Gospel with friends and family.

Thanks to this initial success, Samaritan’s Purse is planning to expand TGJ to First Nations locations in other parts of Canada, including the Stoney First Nation West of Calgary. The goal is to empower  First Nations believers to teach the program on their own.

“As I think about how this all came about, I am grateful to the Lord that He kept putting this pastor and small church in Tuktoyaktuk before us,” said Fred Weiss, Executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse Canada. “This is just a glimpse of what He has been preparing for Tuktoyaktuk.”

Please join us with your prayers and donations so God can continue to use Samaritan’s Purse to change the hearts of children across Canada who need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
