Donor Services Manager

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

One of the ways Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is showing God’s love is through relationship building and the implementation of effective strategies to recognize and acknowledge donors. We are looking for a Donor Services Manager who will be responsible for training, equipping and overseeing the timely and efficient processing of daily mail, donor requests, and donations received by the Donor Services Team (DST). The Manager also plans and formulates customer service initiatives, ensures operational efficiencies in donation processing and receipting, ensures accuracy and completeness of information and safeguards database integrity. As an integral member of the Donor Services department, this person should have a heart for evangelism and will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry. The successful candidate will work out of the Calgary Head office.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the DST is adequately trained and informed to provide high quality customer service by handling inquiries efficiently
  • Works in cooperation with outgoing mail services to ensure order fulfillment
  • Manages and leads the DST by communicating the goals of the team, providing ongoing coaching and scheduling of resources
  • Oversees and reports on donor relations, donation processing and the performance of the DST
  • Ensures the DST complies with organizational and regulatory procedures and is timely in donation processing and reporting
  • Encourages the DST to thank and pray for donors and constituents as a demonstration of God’s love
  • Works with other departments to ensure procedures for outside fundraising including the capture and security of donor data and delivery of funds are followed
  • Provides performance management to the staff through establishing and communicating performance objectives, coaching, and reviews
  • Coordinates, trains and maintains a list of qualified building tour individuals and as necessary conducts tours for visitors
  • Liaises with the Finance Department to ensure regular transactions are accurately completed to balance the financial records

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts, and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
  • Post-secondary education in office administration or a related field is required or equivalent life experience
  • 5 or more years of customer service or fundraising and database management experience is an asset
  • 5 years in a supervisory or management role
  • An understanding of general financial principles is expected of all applicants
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) and databases
  • Ability to multi-task, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and present information professionally, with clarity and accuracy
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, training & teaching experience/ability would be ideal
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, able to work with a culturally diverse group both internally and externally
  • Personable, with excellent telephone manner
  • Solid administrative and organizational skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and works well with a team
  • Bi-lingual – French/English, an asset but not required
  • Creative thinker, self-starter with a strong sense of commitment
