Donor Relations Representative

Region: Western Canada

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Samaritan’s Purse Canada has an exciting opportunity for a highly relational Donor Relations Representative in the Western Canada region. As a member of the development team, the Donor Relations Representative reports to the Donor Engagement Manager and will be responsible for meeting financial goals in order to facilitate ministry objectives determined for Samaritan’s Purse Canada. The Donor Relations Representative will join their team members in raising awareness of our ministry work and how people can participate in the mission. As an integral member of the Donor Ministry department, this role will help Samaritan’s Purse Canada carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry. The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time contract position working remotely from their home office out of Western Canada. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short term/long term disability, and 15 days of vacation per year to start.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide oversight and management of the assigned segment of Samaritan’s Purse Canada ministry partners while cultivating and developing new donor relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations
  • Acquire and maintain organizational knowledge in order to comprehensively represent Samaritan’s Purse Canada’s programming and inspire current and prospective partners with ongoing ministry updates and appropriate appreciation
  • Advance partner relationships through personalized engagement plans that honour each individual donor through significant telephone interaction with our ministry partners
  • Minister to partners through connecting on a spiritual level, praying with and for them, sharing the Gospel and encouraging them in their walk with the Lord
  • Work closely with Regional Managers and other department members to jointly care for or seamlessly transfer partner relationships as necessary
  • Actively manage database information for all partners, documenting all contacts and reporting on activities and results
  • Travel occasionally to assist with regional partner events and strategic one-on-one meetings with partners

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven self-starter with successful track record of developing relationships with high-capacity individuals
  • Proven ability to manage projects and work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic team environment
  • Highly motivated, personable and results orientated professional
  • Excellent telephone manner with strong social intelligence skills to engage donors of different demographics
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional listening, negotiating, problem solving, planning, priority setting, and organizational skills
  • Experience with fund development databases (e.g. Donor Studio) an asset
  • Knowledge of Planned Giving and Estate Planning an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically as required
