Domestic Logistics Coordinator

Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

One of the ways Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) has had open doors to share the gospel is through the shoebox gift program of Operation Christmas Child (OCC).  We are looking to fill a contract role with a dynamic, self-motivated individual, who can provide the necessary administrative coordination for the OCC Operations Team as Domestic Logistics Coordinator. This individual will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry and the below indicated functions as an integral member of the OCC department. The successful candidate will fill a 1-year contract position, to fill a maternity leave vacancy, in the Calgary head office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the shipping and tracking of domestic shoebox gifts transportation
  • Maintains relationships with logistic partners and volunteers
  • Accountable to maintain and coordinate the current logistical systems for shoebox gift collection and distribution within Canada
  • Provides direct logistical support for Processing Centers, Collection Center Coordinators and Corporate Transportation partners across Canada
  • Tracks inventory of all materials and maintains process documentation
  • Researches and develops prospective corporate donors for the Processing Centers
  • Operates within budget and maintains accurate financial reporting to track costs
  • Coordinates various volunteer projects throughout the year focused on material packing and distribution

  • Diploma in Office Administration or related discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of volunteer ministry development
  • 1-3 years of experience in transportation and logistics administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, administrative and planning skills
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; both verbally and written for English
  • Ability to be diplomatic and consistently demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to take initiative; self-motivated
  • High attention to detail, thorough and accurate
  • Maintains confidentiality of information
  • Flexible team player
