Samaritan’s Purse Canada is looking for an experienced accounts payable professional to join our Finance team as Accounts Payable Coordinator. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Coordinator will be responsible to process, track, and record vendor and project partner payments in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. This position also performs credit card and bank account reconciliations, and other general accounting activities such as general ledger data entry and report distribution. As an integral member of the Finance department, this role will help Samaritan’s Purse Canada carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry. The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short term/long term disability, RRSP contributions (after 1 year of employment) and 15 days of vacation per year to start.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Receive, process, and pay vendor invoices in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Receive, process and send all wire transfer payments and liaise with respective client departments regarding timing and other related information
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for all credit card and bank accounts
- Manage accounting of Samaritan’s Purse Canada’s Operation Christmas Child (annual special project) deposits and related reconciliation and reporting
- Maintain familiarity with budget line items for expenditure coding
- Assist the finance team and cover for other finance staff as required by the Director of Finance
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- Under graduate degree or diploma in a related field (Business Administration, Accounting)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the financial field or similar
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge in Excel
- Proficient in accounting methods, proper internal control practices and financial systems
- Familiarity with government requirements and regulations for charities
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with fund accounting and multiple currencies will be an added advantage
