Samaritan’s Purse is responding to devastating flooding throughout southern British Columbia. A state of provincial emergency has been declared and nearly 20,000 people are currently displaced. Samaritan’s Purse is working with local emergency management officials to operate an evacuation centre in Abbotsford. The shelter will provide beds and meals for up to 200 people who are unable to return home. Join as we share the love of Jesus by offering tangible help to residents in their time of need. Volunteers are needed to assist evacuees with parking, hospitality, and registration, and may sign up for a morning (7am-2pm) or afternoon (2pm-9pm) shift.
Volunteers will receive training on site and will serve under the leadership of an experienced Site Leadership Team. All volunteers must have a valid criminal background check completed within the past 2 years. Upon confirmation, you may send us a copy of your valid check, or we will send you an invitation to complete one online. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and youth ages 16 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Volunteers are required to provide their own transportation to and from the Tradex in Abbotsford. Food and drink will be provided for volunteers during their shift.
The first step in the volunteer application is to complete the following health questionnaire. All prospective volunteers must complete the below health screening assessment in order to determine their eligibility to volunteer.
