Argentina
It was the experience of a lifetime for more than 50 youth from Canada and the United
States as they set out for Buenos Aires, Argentina with Samaritan’s Purse Youth Teams on an Operation Christmas Child distribution trip.
Despite the language barrier, culture shock, and the ongoing challenges of seeing
and experiencing urban poverty, the team saw the Spirit of God move in them and
through them as they served in a brand new way. Throughout the 12-day ministry adventure,
the group hand-delivered more than 1,500 shoe box gifts to hundreds of children in many poor communities in the Buenos Aires area, offered individuals the gift
of clearer sight through eyeglass clinics, and connected with the people of Argentina
as they served in the name of Jesus.
“The distribution was amazing,” Canadian Youth Teams participant Josh Boden said
of his experience handing out Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts.
Seeing the kids’ homes, where they live, and then the expressions on their face
as they opened their shoe boxes was an experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
“I have learned so much about loving people and serving people from the people I
came to serve,” said Josh. “My eyes have been opened to the reality of God’s will.”
