Mission Teams: Common Questions
Q: What is a Samaritan’s Purse Mission Team?
A: Samaritan’s Purse Mission Teams give churches and other groups the opportunity
to respond to our hurting world. Mission Teams are designed for groups that would
like to participate in short-term missions, while experienced personnel lead the
planning, administration, the in-country experience and follow-up.
Q: How do I form a Mission Team with my church or group?
A: You need a group of 15 to 30 people from your church, community, or circle of
friends. If you have an interested group, contact Samaritan’s Purse Teams to discuss
destinations, trip dates, and costs.
Q: What trip details does Samaritan’s Purse Teams take
care of?
A: Samaritan’s Purse Teams provides logistics and leadership – coordinating flights,
accommodations, transportation, translators, and more. We also provide a trained
Samaritan’s Purse team leader to accompany the group and guide your trip. We ask
your group to assign a ‘Group Coordinator’ to be our contact person. That Group
Coordinator is responsible for putting together the team, holding meetings, and
helping the team fundraise.

Q: Can I join a Mission Team as an individual without a
group?
A: Yes, we have some Mission Teams designed to include individuals or couples. Please

for information. We also have opportunities for individuals to join
Relief Teams.
Q: How much support will have to be raised for a Samaritan’s Purse short-term international mission project?
A: As a trip participant, you are accepting an invitation to join Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) carry out its charitable objectives on an international mission’s project. As an non-profit charitable organization, the costs of this ministry are covered by donations from its constituents. The cost of short-term mission projects can range from $2000-$4000 when calculated on a per person basis. SPC can only undertake each mission project if sufficient funds are raised.
Q: Can we fundraise to raise support for a Samaritan’s Purse short-term international mission project?
A: Yes, we encourage you to fundraise and make your church, friends, and family aware of what you will be doing, and the vision of the Mission Trip. Samaritan’s Purse can help you by providing ways for you and others to donate towards your trip.
Q: Are trip donations tax deductible?
A: Tax receipts will be issued for all gifts to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Once receipted, all gifts are non-refundable.
