One of the first emotions that crosses the face of a child as they open an Operation Christmas Child shoe box is wonder.
For many children this will be the first gift they have ever received, for all of the children there will be things in their shoe box that are completely foreign to them. This is where handing out shoe boxes becomes the most fun. You will get a chance to watch children’s expressions change from one of questioning wonder to delight as they learn how their new toy works. It will touch your heart.
This August you and 40 of your soon-to-be-closest friends will have an opportunity to bring joy-filled smiles to the faces of children in Uruguay. You will also have the opportunity to touch the lives of entire communities as you assist in community development projects and medical, dental or eyeglass clinics. And you will have an opportunity to share the joy of Jesus Christ in one of the most secular nations in South America.
Your team will travel from Toronto on August 6 to Montevideo, Uruguay, where it will head to Rivera in the northern part of Uruguay. While in Rivera we will be hosted by members of the Operation Christmas Child national leadership team. They are passionate about reaching their country but also love to have fun, and are very excited to share in the work of the gospel with our team.
Who should go?
This is a team specifically for designed for youths between the ages of 16-20. If you are outgoing, resourceful, love being around kids, and have an adventurous spirit, this is your team. Participants must have a valid passport and be 16 or older.
Dates: August 6 – 20, 2010
Cost: $3,500 per person (tax receiptable)
Trip price includes return airfare from Toronto, accommodations, meals, ground transportation, visas and Samaritan’s Purse leader.
What is not included? Any required vaccinations and personal spending money are your own responsibility. Return airfare to Toronto from home airport if required is also not included.
