Aid for Syrian Refugees

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to the needs of Syrians inside and outside the country.

More than 2.5 million people have been forced to run for their lives since civil war broke out in Syria three years ago.

Thanks to Canadians’ generous donations and prayers, our courageous partner churches are helping 2,500 families in crisis—about half of whom haven’t been able to exit Syria. They are bringing them food, clothing, baby items, bedding, medicine, and other emergency assistance based on each family’s unique needs.

“The need is increasing greatly the longer the crisis becomes,” said one of our church partners, who has recently opened the door to find the street flooded with those needing help. “But we are determined to work to provide assistance to the needy people and relieve their burdens in this difficult crisis.”

Samaritan’s Purse is also helping refugees in Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. More than 219,000 Syrian refugees—many of them children—have escaped to Iraq so far, where Samaritan’s Purse has distributed tons of relief items including rice, sugar, lentils, chickpeas, diapers, shoes, and heaters.

“We offer aid to all the society and from all backgrounds without discrimination,” said our partner. “We realize as a church that we are building bridges with many kinds of people.”

As a result of experiencing God’s love in action, many people are coming to believe in Him. Church meetings are being filled by those who have previously known little about Jesus, and more than a dozen were recently baptized.

From the beginning, Samaritan’s Purse—with your donations—has been supporting local ministry partners as they provide physical and spiritual help to suffering families in Jesus’ Name. The needs of Syrians are ongoing as the civil war continues, and Samaritan’s Purse has been blessed with unique opportunities to respond. Please give generously today.
