Post-Residency Program

The World Medical Mission Post-Residency Program has been developed to offer gifted and dedicated Christian physicians the opportunity to serve overseas after they have completed their residencies and/or fellowships. This two-year program is designed for doctors who feel called to a career in international medical missions. With support from Samaritan's Purse, Christian physicians will be introduced to the blessings and opportunities of a career in medical missions while gaining valuable medical experience and sharing the love and compassion of Christ with a hurting world.

Actual assignments will be made after candidates are selected and confirmed. Typical assignments will be in established mission hospitals or clinics, and will be determined by the needs of the hospital or clinic, medical talents, and personal direction. Physicians will work within their specialty, but as with all medical mission experiences, flexibility is essential. Physicians will be called on to care for a wide variety of patients.

Post-Residency Application

Applicants must fill out World Medical Missions application forms and return it to Samaritan’s Purse with two professional letters of reference and a character reference completed by your pastor. A committee of World Medical Mission senior staff members will review all applications and interview qualified individuals. The committee will consider your medical specialty, testimony, references, and God’s leading in your life, as well as your long-term career goals.

Your application must be made by the deadline of June 1 in the last year of your residency.
