TEACHING RESOURCES:
Helping students learn more about Turn on the Tap and the importance of bringing safe water to the world.

Teaching Resources for Schools

Most of us take water for granted. But here’s your chance to teach the next generation just how scarce safe, drinkable water is in much of the world and how that water can be made safe to drink.

These downloadable documents supply up to a week’s worth of water stewardship curriculum for junior high (grade 7-9) science courses. They feature discussion points, information on the latest water treatment methods – including BioSand Water Filters, which Samaritan’s Purse has installed throughout the developing world – and include class and group activities. Lesson 1 is designed primarily for students; the other lessons are resources for teachers.

Developed in consultation with teachers, this curriculum is compatible with Alberta science course curriculum needs (and probably curriculum needs for other provinces, too). Thanks to Joe Michaud, Susanna Cheung, Helen Siemens, Julie Jansen, Anne McCullough, Alanna Marcuccio, Steve Wallace, David Joseph, Tom Kollias, and Gillian Buchan for their development work.
