Turn on the Tap
Riding for Water
They came, they rode, and they raised money for a great cause.
Our Household Water Program was the big winner as motorcyclists took to the roads
in three Turn on the Tap motorcycle rides across Canada in September.
More than 110 motorcyclists and passengers participated in rides in Kelowna-Vernon,
B.C., Calgary, and Barrie, Ontario, raising nearly $32,000 to help families in the
developing world get safe water.
“We’re so grateful for the participation of riders, passengers and sponsors,” said
Fred Weiss, an enthusiastic motorcyclist (he took part in the Alberta and B.C. rides)
and executive director of Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
“Thanks to them, more than 300 families who have had to drink filthy, polluted water
will have their lives transformed through safe water.”
All three rides ended with barbecue celebrations. The Calgary event included trick
riding demonstrations by the Off Axis competitive motorcycle team.
Even though this year’s rides are over, you can still partner with Turn on the Tap.
